Q: What is a hackathon?

A: A hackathon has competitors, in this case, students, who work on a desired project on a computing device, present their final project to judges.

Q: How do I register for this hackathon?

A: Please visit our "Register" page on this site to view the most up-to-date registration information.

Q: What do I bring to the hackathon?

A: As mentioned in the registration form, it is an overnight event. Therefore, it is critical you must bring the following to ensure a safe and comfortable stay at the event space: (1) the most critical...your computing device with a power cord and external keyboard and/or mice if you wish; (2) your photo ID, which must be issued in 2024-2025 or 2025-2026 by the school or DMV with your full legal name and a recent picture of you; (3) your medications, if required; (4) a sleeping bag for your comfort; (5) supplies for daily hygiene (there are no showers available, but restrooms are available); (6) personal snacks; and (7) a good smile!

Q: Is there a theme to this hackathon?

A: The theme will be announced on the day of the event.

 

Q: What is the concept that the participant will create during the hackathon?

A: This hackathon is intended for the participant to create a game based on what he/she is interested in.

​

Q: Are there any rules to the hackathon?

A: The final list of rules will be provided by the judges on the day of the event. However, you will not be able to submit prior games or utilize pre-made resources. You may not copy ideas from other participants.

Q: Are there any qualifications to participate in this hackathon?

A: No, there are no qualifications! Any level programmer, beginner to advanced, and computer science enthusiast can participate. However, we highly recommend that participants get a foundational grasp of programming prior to the hackathon.

Q: Is there a fee to participate?

A: No, there is no fee! Food and snacks are all included.

​

Q: Are cellular phones allowed?

A: Yes, you are allowed to bring your cell phones. However, they must remain silent and stay on do not disturb at all times. If there is an emergency, please have your parent/guardian contact the school's number located on the "Contact" page of this site.

Q: What is the schedule of the hackathon?

A: Please visit our "Schedule" page on this site to view the most up-to-date schedule.

Q: Can my parents stay at the hackathon event?

A: Parents are allowed during the check-in, presentations, and final ceremony. However, they are not allowed to remain in the event space during the event.

Q: I am so nervous! What do you do?

A: Do not panic! This is an inclusive and welcoming environment for all-level programmers. Workshops and mentors will be present to guide you to succeed in building your project.​

​

Q: If I feel unwell, what do I do?

A: Please do not come if you feel unwell. Take some rest!

Q: How do I cancel my registration?
